T Shirt Time!

This week's required blog post is a suggestion (or a few suggestions) for the class T Shirt. We cannot have artwork or the cost becomes prohibitive, so text only. Suggestions may come from works studied, favorite quotations, literary allusions, literary malapropisms, class gaffs, AP references--it's up to you!

This post is due Friday 3/4/11 by 3pm

    - Things AP Lit kids talk about:
    1. Animals; who wouldn’t want an elephant or a micropig?
    2. Hamlet; GET THEE TO A NUNNERY…and quick
    3. Mating calls and stampedes; they seem to be common in the hallway…
    4. How to “pop off”; a very advanced technique
    5. Victorian Tea Time; Your ankles are showing?! HOW GAUCHE

    "Elephants" and nothing more

"I put a new layer into my version of the character"
    "Dyslexia"

I would have it be known that this is the earliest I have ever done a blog... Truly exiting times we are living in.

  3. "This class made me realize that my life is a joke." That is definitely something that I would vote to put on a t-shirt. LOL

"It is awfully hard work doing nothing. However, I don't mind hard work where there is no definite object of any kind."

  4. I like the "this class made me realize my life is a joke" a lot.

Also, a phrase with "elephants" randomly added in to make the phrase meaningless.

    Something about the cages.

Maybe "The Importance of Being APES" instead of "The Importance of Being Earnest".

  8. No art?! When I heard we had to come up with t-shirt ideas I instantly thought of the word "elephants" in a cage (front) and a micropig (back)! Oh well! Also, am I missing some inside joke with "this class made me realize my life is a joke"? I do not remember this...

    I guess I'll settle with:
    1. elephants?!
    2. teach me how to dougie. (front) CAUTION: APES on the loose (back)
    3. GET THEE TO A NUNNERY (nice one Piper! ha)

  22. I think it would be classy to have a shirt that read "AP ENGLISH SHIRT" at the top, then had a nice chunky block of text giving an excessive amount of (ridiculous) over-analysis of the three words including several metaphorical meanings, the intent of the words, inconsequential symbolism, allusions, and anything else we'd like to throw in - all meaningless exaggerated analysis of course!

And potentially finished off with a wonderful 'shirt' related thesis. Mmm.

  30. Ninjafied APES

    by Jeannie Matthews

It’s Judith’s corner. You’re all just in time
For this ever so special nursery rhyme.
So lend me your ears and I’ll rid all those fears,
Of forgetting the memories shared with your peers.
I’ll take you back to the start, from August, September
So this class, we shall, forever remember.

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago,
There were some APES, their story you’ll know.
In a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth,
And pigs were short in stature and girth,
There lived a teacher, her name was Ms. Hurst,
And into Literature, we became submersed.

We learned how to dougie, and dougie we tried,
And endured the saying “You just got pied!”
We learned that IDs were all out of whack,
And discovered that Ernest was really called Jack.
We learned if we’re sad to just take some soma,
And drift, like Karlins, into a coma.

We learned of the Ramayana, an epic saga,
And acknowledged Matt’s deep obsession with Gaga.
Daily, we listened to noise in the halls,
We witnessed a variety of true matting calls.
At exposed ankles, do not take a gander,
    Instead, try Magnum, from Zoolander.

We’re really some groovy ninjas of Lit,
I don’t think, on a t-shirt, that all this will fit.
Now the conclusion of AP Lit days,
Will leave us void of treasured teach-okays.
